Quotes
Do I need to know which service I want before asking for a quote?
No. Tell us what you want to move, from where, to where and when. We turn that need into a proposal: transport, customs or both.
What does the quote include?
Every concept: freight, surcharges, insurance if requested, estimated duties based on tariff classification, port or airport charges, brokerage fees and inland transport. It is the landed cost, not just the freight.
Customs and duties
What duties does an import pay in Honduras?
Mainly the Import Duty (DAI), which depends on the tariff line and can be reduced or eliminated under a treaty, and the 15% Sales Tax (ISV). Some products also pay specific taxes. We explain it in our import duties guide.
Can you handle only customs if I already have a freight forwarder?
Yes. Many clients hire us only for customs clearance. We coordinate document hand-over and arrival notices with your freight forwarder.
Transport and tracking
Do you work with any origin?
We work with a network of correspondent agents at the main origins that import into Honduras: the United States, Asia, Europe, Mexico and Central America. If the origin is unusual, we verify it before quoting.
Can I track my shipment?
Yes. We notify you at every milestone: booking confirmed, departure, arrival, declaration filed and release. And if something changes along the way, you hear it from us first.
The company
Where are your offices?
In Tegucigalpa (Centro Morazán, Boulevard Morazán) and San Pedro Sula. We are also present at the La Mesa, Palmerola and Toncontín airports, the ports of Puerto Cortés, Roatán, La Ceiba and San Lorenzo, and the El Florido, Corinto, Agua Caliente, El Poy, El Amatillo, Guasaule and Las Manos borders.
How do you keep me up to date with regulatory changes?
Our clients receive updates whenever something changes that affects their goods: tariffs, permits, customs procedures or labelling requirements.
By service
What documents do I need to import into Honduras?
At minimum the commercial invoice, packing list and transport document (BL, air waybill or consignment note). Depending on the goods you may also need a certificate of origin, prior permits or sanitary registrations; we confirm this when reviewing the documents.
Can you clear goods at a customs office where you have no branch?
Yes. We have representation at the country’s busiest crossings and cover the rest through correspondent agents. The declaration is prepared from our offices and handled on site.
How long does a container take from Asia to Honduras?
It depends on the origin and route, but typical transits to Puerto Cortés take four to six weeks. We give you the estimated time for each option when quoting.
Is Palmerola or Toncontín better for my cargo?
It depends on the airline and where your warehouse is. Palmerola concentrates most international cargo flights for the central region; we recommend the best option when quoting.
How long does a truck take to cross the border?
With documentation transmitted and an agent waiting at the crossing, it usually takes hours, not days. Delays almost always come from a document that does not match the cargo, which is why we check everything before the truck leaves.
Is the tariff classification final?
Our opinion is based on the description and the general interpretative rules of the SAC. For complex or high-volume goods we can request a binding ruling from the Customs Administration.
How long does a prior permit take?
It varies by institution and product: from days for a phytosanitary permit to weeks for a new sanitary registration. That is why we process it before shipment and not once the cargo is already at customs.
Is Aduana Plus an insurance company?
No. We are intermediaries: we work with several insurance companies and place your cargo with the one that covers it best. The policy is issued and backed by the insurer; we manage it and support you throughout, including any claim.
Do I need insurance if I bought FOB or EXW?
That is when you need it most. Under FOB, EXW and FCA the risk passes to you at origin and nobody else insures the cargo for you. Even under CIF the seller is only required to take out minimum cover, which leaves out many common types of damage.
Do you insure vehicles or homes?
No. We only insure international trade goods while in transit. For vehicles, homes or personal insurance you should go directly to an insurance company.
How much does it cost to insure a shipment?
It depends on the value, the type of goods, the packaging, the route and the mode of transport, so we quote each case. Send us the invoice and the route and we will reply with the premium and deductible.
What should I do if my cargo arrives damaged?
Before signing for delivery, note the damage on the delivery receipt, take photos of the cargo and packaging, and let us know the same day. With that we prepare the claim with the insurer and the carrier.
